Blood vessels are subject to gradual aging. As we age, changes in the endothelium (the lining of the blood vessels) occur that result in a gradual stiffening and loss of elasticity. The arteries become less responsive to blood-borne chemical messengers and are unable to relax normally, decreasing their ability to deliver blood where it is needed most.
However, in many people, arteries age prematurely, mainly due to atherosclerosis. As this disease progresses, these blood vessels lose the ability to release nitric oxide, a substance playing multiple roles in cardiovascular system.
Although effects of nitric oxide are short-lived, it is one of the most powerful vasodilators known. By relaxing the smooth muscles and thus increasing the diameter of the blood vessels, nitric oxide is a principal regulator of blood pressure.
It also protects the arteries against atherosclerosis by preventing the adhesion of platelets and white blood cells that form arterial plaque. Conversely, arteries that have been damaged by atherosclerosis have impaired synthesis of nitric oxide. In addition, nitric oxide has powerful antioxidant activity.
Aging of the arteries has been also linked to nutritional deficiencies, such as deficiencies of
- minerals (magnesium, calcium, potassium), preventing hypertension (a significant risk factor for arterial disease)
- antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene, selenium), protecting the arteries against free radical damage
- B-complex vitamins (particularly vitamins B-12, B-6, and folic acid) protecting the arteries against homocysteine damage (a significant risk factor for atherosclerosis).
It goes without saying that by taking Arterial Cleansing Formula you can
- rejuvenate your arteries
- prevent their premature aging, and
- slow down the aging processes in the entire cardiovascular system.
